Liam’s Mid-Season Race Report
The last 2 months have been very busy competing in 2 major UK events Ard Moors located in the North York Moors and The Tweedlove International event based in Peebles Scotland. Liam secured 20th Overall out of 750 competitors at Ard Moors despite a crash on stage 1 costing valuable time. The Scottish event went well with a brilliant 3rd Under 21 and 5th overall out of a strong field of 400 riders.
Liam then travelled to the French and Swiss Alps to compete in Rounds 4 and 5 of the UCI MTB Enduro U21 Elite World Championship.
The French round took place at Combloux in view of Mt Blanc. Liam was going well in 30 degrees plus heat on the tough stages looking for a good point scoring position until the penultimate stage where a crash costing 40 seconds unfortunately put him out of the points. After a week of practice in the Morzine region of the Alps the team travelled into Switzerland to Altesch Belland. Following practice and the event start being delayed by one day due to mountain storms the competition started with the first spectacular stage of 5.2 kms located at 2600metres adjacent to the largest Glacier in Europe. For Liam the event was cut short after his rear tyre was split on the rocky terrain which caused his retirement.
On his return Liam competed in the Ard Rock event based in the Yorkshire Dales a major event that has 3,700 competitors over 3 days. Liam riding in the main Enduro class had a great result of P3 Under 21, and P18 Overall out of more than 1000 riders!
Liams next event is the UCI sanctioned British Enduro Championship based in Scotland.
