Primex sponsored Coates on the brink of title success
Primex Plastics Ltd has been sponsoring local racing driver Max Coates for the past 11 years and has shared in every triumph and defeat through his campaigns in the Ginetta GT Supercup, British Touring Car Championship, Porsche Carrera Cup, Renault Clio Cup, MINI CHALLENGE UK and more latterly, the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB. Cruelly Max has missed out on winning championships several times at the final rounds of the season, especially during a four year stint in the Renault Clio Cup, but this weekend he is poised to change that.
Max leads the Porsche Sprint Challenge as the series heads into it’s final round at Brands Hatch GP this weekend. This is the first year Max, and the rest of the grid, has campaigned the new Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 Clubsport RS featuring a 510 bhp flat 6 engine. The rear engine purpose built race car has shown ballistic speed at Snetterton, Oulton Park, Croft (where we also hosted our big staff day out), Donington Park, Silverstone and the upcoming Brands Hatch.
Max, in his fourth season competing with Graves Motorsport, has been on the podium in every race this season bar two, where he finished 4th. This stellar season of results means he has a 10 point advantage over his nearest rival going into this weekends championship decided. With wins at Snetterton and Croft Circuit, he’ll be hoping to recreate that form this weekend.
Max said: “This season has been one of my best yet, we’ve been so consistent and really hit form mid-season as the team and I learnt more about this fantastic new car. It was timely, with so many guests attending from Primex Plastics. Their support over the last 11 years has been amazing and allowed me to perform at my best and I hope this weekend I can repay that with the result we have chased for so long. Together we’ve achieved some amazing successes and my focus currently is on producing three more of those at the weekend.”
Primex Plastics general manager Alan Pollitt and manufacturing manager Gary Clement, as well as machine operative Robbie Foster, will be attending this weekend to support Max in his weekends races.
You can follow Max this weekend via TSL Live timing, and race 3 will be streamed live on ITV4 and ITVX online.
